This beginner course introduces you to everyday spoken Levantine Arabic. You will learn how to greet people, talk about yourself and your family, ask simple questions, and understand basic sentence structure, while building familiarity with the Arabic alphabet.

Chapter 1: Ahlan wa sahlan (Welcome!)

What you’ll achieve: Start and end simple conversations confidently using culturally appropriate expressions.

You will learn how to:

• Introduce yourself and greet others
  
• Say goodbye and conclude conversations politely
  
• Understand key social customs
  
• Recognize and use the definite article /il/

Chapter 2: Haadha il3aalam (This World)

What you’ll achieve: Talk about where you are from and begin reading and recognizing Arabic script.

You will learn how to:

• Use honorifics appropriately
  
• State and ask about nationality and hometown
  
• Form nisba adjectives (nationality adjectives)
  
• Form regular plurals
  
• Connect ideas using high-frequency connectors (and, or, but)
  
• Recognize the first set of Arabic letters (ا، و، ي، ب، ت، ث، ج، ح)

Chapter 3: 3eylti (My Family)

What you’ll achieve: Describe your family and handle basic everyday references like numbers and days.

You will learn how to:

• Name family members
  
• Understand cultural perspectives on family structure
  
• Count from 1–10
  
• Say and recognize the days of the week
  
• Recognize the second set of Arabic letters
  (د، ذ، ر، ز، س، ش، ص، ض)

Chapter 4: Mish 3aarif (I Do Not Know!)

What you’ll achieve: Ask for information, respond clearly, and form basic positive and negative sentences.

You will learn how to:

• Form yes/no questions
  
• Ask Wh-questions (who, what, where, when, how much/many)
  
• Use high-frequency prepositions (in, on, at, etc.)
  
• Form negation using ma, mish, and laa
  
• Understand nominal and verbal sentence structures
• Recognize the third set of Arabic letters

This course builds on A1.1 and expands your ability to handle everyday life situations in spoken Levantine Arabic. You will learn to order food, talk about time and quantities, describe your home, give directions, and begin using the past tense confidently.

Chapter 5: Falaafil wa kabaab (Falafel and Kebab)

What you’ll achieve: Communicate comfortably in dining situations and handle basic financial and time-related exchanges.

You will learn how to:

• Order food and make polite requests in a restaurant
  
• Understand food etiquette and dining customs
  
• Recognize and use Jordanian currency
  
• Tell and ask about the time
  
• Expand your number vocabulary beyond 1–10
  
• Use countable nouns correctly with numbers
• Recognize the final set of Arabic letters
  (م، ن، هـ، و، لا، ي)

Chapter 6: Fii beytna (At Our Home)

What you’ll achieve: Speak about home life naturally and understand how possession is expressed in Arabic.

You will learn how to:

• Follow cultural expectations when dining at someone’s home
  
• Say and recognize the months of the year
  
• Use the iḍaafah (genitive construct) to express possession and relationships

Chapter 7: Weyn nruuH? (Where Should We Go?)

What you’ll achieve: Discuss free-time activities, navigate locations, and describe past events.

You will learn how to:

• Talk about leisure and cultural activities
  
• Ask for and give directions
  
• Describe objects using colors
  
• Ask “how much” and “how many”
  
• Use common expressions and prepositions
  (ʿind, maʿ, fii)
• Form and use the past tense (introduction)

This course expands your conversational skills and helps you communicate more confidently in educational, commercial, and urban settings. You will strengthen your verb usage, improve sentence structure, and learn to negotiate, explain, and navigate everyday situations.

Chapter 8: Hayaat iljaam3ah (University Life) 

What you’ll achieve:
Discuss studies, academic interests, and movement between places while using present and future forms accurately.

You will learn how to:

• Talk about university life and higher education
  
• Name and describe fields of study
  
• Discuss transportation and commuting
  
• Use demonstratives (this, that, these, those)
  
• Form and use the present tense
  
• Form and use the future tense

Chapter 9: Fi issuug (At the Market)

What you’ll achieve:
Handle market interactions confidently and negotiate naturally in spoken Arabic.

You will learn how to:

• Describe the Arab souk and market environment
  
• Bargain and negotiate prices
  
• Understand cultural norms in commercial settings
  
• Form negative verb statements
  
• Use imperatives to give instructions or commands
  
• Express cause-and-effect relationships

Chapter 10: Ilmadiinih il3arabiyyih (The Arab Town)

What you’ll achieve:
Describe city life clearly and understand the structure of different sentence types.

You will learn how to:

• Talk about moving around the city
  
• Discuss safety and security
  
• Name and locate important places and services
  
• Understand and use nominal sentences (without an explicit verb)
  
• Understand and use verbal sentences (centered around a verb)

This course strengthens your ability to communicate in everyday real-life situations involving health, weather, sports, and informal conversation. You will expand your grammar control with comparisons, irregular plurals, modal expressions, and the verb kaan in the past.

Chapter 11: Shuu maalak? (What’s Wrong With You?)

What you’ll achieve:
Describe symptoms, give advice, and compare people or situations confidently.

You will learn how to:

• Discuss common health issues and symptoms
  
• Name and identify parts of the body
  
• Give precautions and simple medical advice
  
• Use quantifiers to express amounts
  
• Form and use comparative adjectives (bigger, smaller, better)
  
• Form and use superlatives (biggest, best, most important)

Chapter 12: Iljaw (The weather)

What you’ll achieve:
Talk about weather conditions and seasons while improving noun patterns.

You will learn how to:

• Describe weather conditions and forecasts
  
• Name and discuss the seasons of the year
  
• Recognize and use broken plurals (irregular noun forms)
  
• Use gabil (before) and ba3d (after) with ma in context

Chapter 13: Kurat ilqadam (Football)

Focus: Sports vocabulary, youth slang, and modal expressions

What you’ll achieve:
Engage in casual conversation about sports and everyday life using more natural spoken Arabic.

You will learn how to:

• Talk about different sports and activities
  
• Understand and use common youth slang (haki shabaab)
• Use kaan to describe past states or situations
  
• Express desire using biddi (I want)
  
• Express necessity using laazim (must / have to)

This level strengthens your ability to communicate confidently in everyday Gulf Arabic situations. You will refine your grammar control, expand numerical fluency, and improve your ability to describe, request, and interact naturally.

Unit 1

What you’ll achieve:
Speak more naturally in service and everyday situations by making requests clearly and politely.

You will learn how to:

• Use expressions of quantity (a little, a lot, enough, etc.)
  
• Form orders and polite requests
  
• Use the Gulf Arabic equivalent of “please” appropriately in context

Unit 2

What you’ll achieve:
Strengthen your grammatical accuracy when referring to specific items and multiple objects.

You will learn how to:

• Use the Arabic definite article correctly
  
• Form and use the dual (for two items)
  
• Form and use plural nouns accurately

Unit 3

What you’ll achieve:
Handle everyday shopping and social exchanges with confidence.

You will learn how to:

• Ask “How much?” and “How many?”
  
• Discuss prices and costs
  
• Use numbers 1–10 fluently
  
• Initiate and respond to greetings naturally

Unit 4

What you’ll achieve:
Describe people, objects, and situations more clearly and accurately.

You will learn how to:

• Construct simple descriptive sentences
  
• Use noun–adjective agreement correctly
• Expand your range of descriptive adjectives

This level deepens your grammatical control and expands your ability to narrate events, describe complex situations, and connect ideas clearly. You will strengthen your mastery of past tense verbs, clause structures, and advanced sentence patterns.

Unit 5

What you’ll achieve:
Communicate more precisely when discussing age, time, and quantities.

You will learn how to:

• Use numbers from 11 up to 1,000,000
  
• Ask and state age
  
• Tell and ask about the time
  
• Ask questions using “who?” and “what?”

Unit 6

What you’ll achieve:
Build a solid foundation in verb usage and describe where things happen.

Unit 7

What you’ll achieve:
Narrate past events more accurately and link ideas smoothly.

• Conjugate verbs beginning with a glottal stop (hamza)
  
• Conjugate “hollow” verbs (with a weak middle radical)
  
• Use structures meaning “to say that” (reported speech)
• Use structures meaning “to ask whether” (indirect questions)
  
• Express cause using li’ann (“because”)
  
• Use expressions of manner (adverbs)
  
• Expand time expressions for sequencing events

Unit 8

What you’ll achieve:
Construct more detailed descriptions and improve sentence flow.

• Use the relative form (comparative and superlative adjectives)
  
• Understand and apply typical Arabic word order patterns

This level consolidates your control of verb systems and expands your ability to express commands, ongoing actions, complex meanings, and abstract ideas. You will gain deeper fluency with imperfect verbs, imperatives, participles, derived verb patterns, and verbal nouns.

Unit 9

Focus: Special verb types and temporal connections

What you’ll achieve:
Increase accuracy when narrating stories and describing past experiences.

You will learn how to:

• Conjugate “doubled” verbs (with repeated final radicals)
• Conjugate weak verbs (with waw or yaa’)
• Use time conjunctions to connect events
• Use ordinal numbers correctly
• Name and use the months of the year

Unit 10

What you’ll achieve:
Express more nuanced ideas using clauses and advanced structures.

You will learn how to:

• Form and use relative clauses
• Use demonstrative pronouns (this, that) independently
• Use demonstrative adjectives to modify nouns
• Form negatives in equational (non-verbal) sentences
• Use indefinite and negative pronouns such as “somebody” and “nobody”

Unit 11

What you’ll achieve:
Strengthen your ability to describe ongoing, habitual, and future actions accurately.

You will learn how to:

• Conjugate basic forms of the imperfect verb
• Conjugate imperfect verbs across different stem/root types
• Review and consolidate key verb forms
• Apply the imperfect tense in different contexts (habitual, present continuous, future meaning, etc.)

This level consolidates your control of verb systems and expands your ability to express commands, ongoing actions, complex meanings, and abstract ideas. You will gain deeper fluency with imperfect verbs, imperatives, participles, derived verb patterns, and verbal nouns.

Unit 12

What you’ll achieve:
Give clear instructions and combine actions naturally in conversation.

You will learn how to:

• Use verb strings (combining multiple verbs in one sentence)
• Form imperatives with strong (regular) verbs
• Form imperatives with irregular verb types
• Use the negative imperative (“Don’t do…”) correctly

Unit 13

What you’ll achieve:
Use participles to describe states, ongoing actions, and completed actions in a more natural way.

You will learn how to:

• Use the present (active) participle (e.g., “doing,” “going,” “working”)
• Use the passive participle (e.g., “done,” “written,” “opened”)

Unit 14

What you’ll achieve:
Recognize and use common derived verb patterns that add meaning such as causative, reflexive, or reciprocal action.

You will learn how to:

• Understand and use key derived verb themes (e.g., CaCCaC, CaaCaC, tiCaCCaC, tiCaaCaC patterns)
• Identify how meaning shifts with different verb forms
• Apply these forms in practical spoken contexts

Unit 15

What you’ll achieve:
Express more complex and abstract ideas with greater grammatical precision.

You will learn how to:

• Use the verbal noun (maSdar) to express actions as concepts (e.g., “studying,” “working”)
• Form coordinated negatives within a sentence
• Use compound adjectives
• Use reflexive expressions such as “myself,” “yourself,” etc.

Unit 16

Express more precise meanings through advanced verb forms and discuss hypothetical or real conditions clearly.

You will learn how to:

• Recognize and use advanced derived verb themes (aCCaC, inCaCaC, iCtaCaC, istaCCaC patterns)
• Form conditional sentences (if… then…)
• Express real, possible, and hypothetical outcomes

This study plan builds advanced communication skills by teaching more complex verb structures, ways to express desires and opinions, and natural everyday expressions. It also focuses on linking ideas smoothly and understanding nuanced meanings in conversation. 

Unit 17

Communicate desires, preferences, and more complex verb structures naturally.
